Kim Sartain is one of my favorite L'amour characters, so I was eager to hear Grub Line Rider in audio. If the short story is good, the audio version is better! In the paperback, there were a few places where I was not quite sure what a character was thinking and it made the ending seem abrupt. With the dramatized edition on CD, there have been some additions to the text that fill in those moments where I don't understand why the father was so willing to agree to the loan, among others. The sound effects, as well, add life to the story. A jealous cowboy choking on his dinner sounds a might different in my imagination that it does on CD. hahaha The voice of John Millard has just the right amount steel and charm to do justice to Kim's witty lines. "And make that apple pie thick and juicy, the way I like it." ^__^ All in all, the dramatized version of Grub Line Rider takes the original up notch or two.
As for the other 2 titles in this collection, I have not heard them yet, but am confident that they will follow in the same vein.

I love any story by Louis L'amour. They are action packed, strong characters, moving storylines, and the good guy always wins, but not without a gunfight.
