About the Author
Leon Uris (1924–2003) was an author of fiction, nonfiction, and screenplays whose works include numerous bestselling novels. His epic Exodus (1958) has been translated into over fifty languages. Uris’s work is notable for its focus on dramatic moments in contemporary history, including World War II and its aftermath, the birth of modern Israel, and the Cold War. Through the massive success of his novels and his skill as a storyteller, Uris has had enormous influence on popular understanding of twentieth-century history.

Two of my favorites.

Yes, I've read both of these books several times. I own hardcover and paperback editions of both. But, since I love them so much, I just wanted them on my Kindle as well. And, yes, Leon Uris tends to write the same story again and again as far as the main characters go (strong willed man and woman, love, fight then love, but don't always end up together), however, his research is what makes these books so special. The story of the end of WWII and beginnings of the state of Israel is fascinating, and his own story of being sued for slander by a Nazi collaborator is intense. I would also suggest MILA 18 if you like these. QB VII was made into one of the first mini-series with Ben Gazarra and Lee Remick which won six Emmys.

Good-bye my life.

A friend recited a passage from Exodus in a speaking contest, way back when I was in high school. I have never forgotten the passage. My children are moving out and exploring the world, which excites me. But it also finds me a little sad. I have been thinking back to the chapter in which the father may select only one of his children to be sent on the train and away from the Nazis. When he says goodbye to her at the train, that line will stay with me forever.
I have read loads of comments about inaccuracies in the book. I stay clear of the politics. The story (Exodus) is very deep, and I appreciated reading it. I have read other books by this author, and appreciated his research, so I thought, the addition of QB VII would be a good read. I will let you know.

Great Britain really sucks

Briton was as bad if not worse than Hitler. At least Hitlers was man enough to just try to destroy the Jews out of hatred, Britain imprisoned them out of greed for oil.
