Deconstructing Monsanto, by Chris Kanthan

Why is Monsanto known as the "most evil" company in the world? Why have chronic diseases such as food allergies, obesity, autism, autoimmune diseases, diabetes and cancer become epidemic?

Written as a conversation between two people, this book is easy to read. However, it is filled with detailed information on GMOs, including the technology, testing and labeling, health risks, scientific studies, and effects on the ecosystem and biodiversity. The book also illustrates the history and the political influence of Monsanto--the biotech giant who, once known for making banned chemicals such as DDT and Agent Orange, now controls what Americans eat and drink.

There are more than 75 external hyperlinks to reliable sources within the book.

Whether you are concerned about the rise in chronic diseases, or curious about genetically modified/engineered food, you will find this book informative. If you are a food warrior trying to change people’s opinions on GMOs, you will find useful strategies here.

Short book, long on information. A must-read!
By Lynn Esquer
Deconstructing Monsanto by Chris Kanthan is a hugely impactful book that will literally take only an hour or two of your time to read. What do I mean by "impactful"? This book is written in a conversational, non-preachy way but you will never look at food the same way again after you read it. And that's a good thing.

In a span of 16 years, Monsanto -- best known for being the chemical company responsible for Agent Orange and Roundup -- has taken over the food supply of Americans (and much of the rest of the world). With no oversight by the FDA or any other regulatory agency, the company has pumped our food full of carcinogens. As much as 70 percent of the food in your average grocery store is GMO and full of poison. Is it any wonder that our food is making us sicker and not giving us the nutrients we need? How do you feel about feeding your family this kind of food?

The author has done a great job showing why assurances that GMO crops are safe are empty promises. The truth is, nobody knows the longterm impacts of GMO exposure (because Monsanto has effectively shut down scientific studies), but it doesn't take a genius to understand that if most of the food you eat is GMO (which it is), you're consuming vast amounts of herbicide. You know: That stuff you're supposed to not inhale or have touch your skin when you're spraying the weeds in your backyard.

If you're at all curious about what the big deal about GMO food is, why people around the world are leading movements to label GMOs, and why entire countries have managed to outright ban GMOs and Monsanto -- this easily digestible book is for you. I highly recommend it.

accessible and informative
By billworld
This piece is quite well done. The conversational approach is very accessible. But that doesn't mean its short on hard data, facts and links to reputable sources to support arguments. This piece should appeal to:

1) People who know nothing about GMOs
2) Ardent anti-GMO folks who are looking for a good place to point non-believers
3) Pro-GMO folks who are open to better understanding the topic
4) Anyone who wants to absorb "controversial" information in a pleasant non-confrontational conversation-like manner

In the end this topic is really about common sense and I believe Chris demonstrates a lot of that in this piece.

Buy this--as I have--and encourage others to as well!

GMO--Gaia Murdered Overnight?
By Michael Gray
This book about the role of Monsanto in connecting the world's food supply with deadly chemicals and the livelihood of farmers--to the detriment of all living beings on Planet Earth--is gripping, infomative, and delivers a devastating warning. Chris Kanthan has researched the role of Monsanto--from its production of Agent Orange during the American war in Vietnam to its world-wide lobbying strategy (including its success in having the FDA whitewash the terrible differences between GMO crops and their ancient antecedants)---and has found an effective way to tell the painful truths that lurk within this continuing story. He sets up a dialogue between "me" and "friend" that allows the reader to learn about research into the horrors of GMO crops, and the brutal tactics being used to make farmers, distributors, and consumers dependent on them (provided by "me"), through the kinds of erroneous assumptions that most of us ("friend") must have, given the huge lobbying and advertising budgets expended by Monsanto to keep us all in the dark--until it is too late to do anything about it and all the ancient bounty of Gaia, evolved over the eons, have been replaced by GMO equivalents--which are not equivalents. They just look similar-- like the replacements in "The Body Snatchers". Soon it may be too late for us to wake up . . .
